Very good offering or organic items, produce, and teas/spices. There was also a great choice of flours and baking ingredients, even things that are very uncommon.

Wards has been THE store that I have used since my student days at UF. Now even after moving away, I drive an hour back & forth to come shop here. Cannot find another store where there is fresh local produce & variety of spices/health food available under one roof that is not overpriced. Best spot for fresh flowers, plants/ornamentals.

Feels so good to find another family owned grocery store. We use to go to the one in Melrose until the sold the store. Unfortunately the new owners turned it into a liquor store. Bummer. But my wife and I will definitely be back here. Love the butcher shops and farm fresh veggies. Glad to see it's still around for over 70 years. Hope it's around for many more

This place is great! They had fresh breads daily, and nice meat selection. Went to visit my family, and we stopped by and grilled some burgers. Picked up buns, meat, some veggies, and local sauces. Everything was delicious! Staff was super friendly! The locals made it a place to come shop and hang out.

The heart of Gainesville. Truly. When people visit town, I take them to Ward's, for a real authentic Gainesville experience. I think it's a really unique thing, to have a local market that's been around since the 1950s. That carries so many staples -- quality produce; meats & seafood; vegan options; deli items; bulk dry goods, herbs, & spices; locally produced items; and more. There's something for everyone, it really is a gem.

meat market, 20.00 a lb steaks, winn Dixie 9.00, I asked for 1 " Delmonico steaks to be cut for me. The guy said there's 2 " sitting there and if you can't afford it ,get you some sirloins. rude butcher, we left went to Winn Dixie , Winn-Dixie butcher cut me 8 ,,,1" steaks

Just discovered this lovely market a couple of days ago, fantastic produce!! Many health items, large liquor section. Ample parking. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable... this market just gained a regular customer.. I will be back often

First time at Ward’s and I was really impressed. The store is much bigger inside than it looks from the outside, with a huge selection of produce, local products, and grocery items. I especially loved the bulk section and all the unique products I don’t usually find in regular stores. They also put a great emphasis on supporting local businesses, and there’s a solid range of vegan and vegetarian options too.

Great selections in all departments. Love Sami's Bakery gluten free breads and Cypress Grove goat milk cheese from Arcata CA. The health and supplements dept is extensive along with a bulk department packed with great items. Oh yes, best of all supporting the local farmers.

Ward’s is my go-to grocery store in Gainesville. It has a great mix of fresh produce, meats, and local products you don’t find in big chains. I trust where they source their food, and they always have fresh fruit and vegetables. I like that they mark boxes of fruit to show which ones are ready to eat. The staff are friendly and helpful, and it feels like a place that really cares about the community. Shopping here is easy and enjoyable, and I’d recommend it to anyone who wants to support a local, family-run business.
